The Admin noticeboard

There are a number of issues that can only be solved by an Administrator. The Admin noticeboard is one of the means through which users can contact Administrators in order to identify a problem that needs Administrative attention. Although editors are welcome to directly contact particular Administrators, posting on this page instead may be an easier way to let the entire Administrative group know of the issue (which may be particularly helpful since it increases the odds that at least one Administrator will see, and thus be able to respond to, the issue promptly).

There are only a limited number of things for which this page should be used. Many problems can be solved without Administrative intervention, and, thus, this page should be restricted to those issues that actually require an Administrator. Those are: blocking vandals, (un)deleting pages, (un)protecting pages, removing votes (either as per Real Vetting or because the build has been substantially edited), and mediation (only if the situation demands it).

Even in cases of vandalism, posting on this page needn't be the first step (and indeed should not be the first step). If you see vandalism, just go ahead and revert it, anyone has the power to do so. If it's a new article with no safe version to revert back to, tag it for deletion. In both cases you should leave a message in the talk page of that user to make him/her aware of why that kind of edit is unacceptable on PvXwiki. Only post here if that user persists in his/her actions, ignoring the warnings or if the content requires immediate Administrative attention (eg. if the material on the page is so offensive that should be immediately deleted).

(Be careful in case that user repeatedly insists on vandalizing, avoid a revert war; it's far better to temporarily leave the vandalized version of the page up until an admin has a chance to intervene.)

To create a new request: add an item to the bottom of the list below, providing a brief, neutral summary of the issue. As a sign of courtesy, also leave a message on the talk page of any other involved users so they are aware of this discussion. If you are alerting an admin of a vandal, use the {{IP}} template, with the first parameter being the vandal's IP or username. If you are requesting that vote(s) be removed, please use the {{Build}} template, with the first parameter being the build's name.

Note that this is not a talk page and that the respective moderators of each section reserve the right to remove non-administrative comments without discussion.

Please place new requests at the bottom of the corresponding issues heading.

General Issues

General problems, such as user conduct, vandalism, and bans. Also, suggestions can be posted here. All can be resolved by an Administrator. See resolved General Issues here.

Trial Build Tag

Im not sure if this is the right spot to say this but, It says on the bottom of the tag, Do not remove this tag until the build has been vetted by the community, doesn't that mean that it needs to be voted upon? Because earlier on the tag it says Do not vote on this build. Just confusing imo, or do I have a misunderstanding of the word vetted. Drah McNinja 18:07, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Build-Specific Issues

Build-Specific refers to any issue pertaining to the removal of votes, usually resolved by a Build Master or Administrator. See resolved issues here.

If you wish to dispute another user's vote, it is advised to do so on the build's talk page. This section of the noticeboard is intended to notify Admins or Build Masters of issues that can be speedily resolved (e.g. factually incorrect votes) or issues in need of mediation. Avoid debating builds or votes here.

Note: If applicable, please identify specific votes to improve admin response time.

Me/any Draining Pressure (talk · rate)

  • Votes of 1 do not reflect reality of the build.
  • Explained on the Discussion page why Lyssa Degenerator is inferior (constantly ripped Lyssa in TA is less energy gain (less alone energy steal) than Energy Drain and Lyssa can't be covered with another enchant as it is contantly reapplied.
  • Some people only rate the pressure when the focus is energy denial
  • Power Drain compensates for the Energy difference between Energy Drain and an unripped Lyssa enchant if the objective is pressure
  • People disregarded optional slots.
  • Weapon sewapping doesn't always work (conflicting priorities forces wrong weapon choice when faced with melee pressure)
  • Energy denial doesn't have its only use on healers. It makes any other player useless
  • I don't think that a build that makes me decisive in many matches can receive a rating below 3

This build received trashed vote (0 and 1). The build is valid and doesn't deserve this. GoR is not necessarily superior and requires 5 energy for each copy when echo doesn't which is better energy management. General Coding Issues

Coding refers to any issue or bug that needs to be dealt with by a Server Administrator (Gcardinal or Hhhippo). See resolved issues here. PvXcode related issues have their own section below.

Rating Page Lock

We need a way to lock rating pages from additions and removals(Like a page protection). Also useful for archived builds, to keep the rating page unchanged. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   16:53, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

I agree, but also for deleted builds. — Balistic 22:03, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Forum links

Could possibly get some coding to link to the forums for specific builds? For example, if in the article, there is some code such as "forums=(URL)" then it would add a link to the top. Is this possible? We could just make a template and add it to these pages I guess. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   12:50, 25 September 2008 (EDT)

Display issues with Safari Browser

Well, I recently downloaded the new Safari browser and i like it a lot. However, there seems to be some kind of display issue with PvX. The navigation bar that is supposed to appear on the left hand side of each article is just a blank white area and the links from that are pushed down to the very bottom of the page below the white area. Could be something to do with my computer, but can someone else using safari confirm? Thanks Peter 02:58, 26 September 2008 (EDT)

Yea, the sidebar links are getting pushed down below the article body on every page. I'll look into it and see if I can change the css or something to fix it if I have time. Hhhippo might know how to fix it. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 17:44, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
Nothing I've tried fixes it. It's entirely possible it's a safari bug. But if anyone else who knows some css wants to try to figure it out, here's a summary of what I tried:
  1. Reducing the width of the article body and/or sidebar just leaves a bigger gap between them.
  2. Changing the white-space:nowrap in the h4, h5, and h6's for .portlet to white-space:normal removes the big section of whitespace, and the sidebar looks normal... except that it's still shoved down below the article.
  3. Changing the border, padding, and margin for .portlet and #pBody did nothing.
I tried more than this, but I don't remember it all. Also, guildwiki, GWW, and wikipedia all look normal in Safari. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(sysop) 18:26, 26 September 2008 (EDT)
Confirmed, no other wikis seem to be having this issue. Peter 07:53, 27 September 2008 (EDT)
Opera, IE, Firefox, and Chrome all load the wiki fine. I'm guessing it's a rendering issue in Safari. If you want, I could try to write up a CSS that'll fix it for just you that you can put in your monobook. Cedave bad  ツ cedave (☆contributions☆) 20:24, 28 September 2008 (EDT)
If it was a rendering issue would it not an effect on the other wikis? Its not a huge problem by an stretch of the imagination, just a bit inconvenient. I will contact apple and see what they say....Peter 04:26, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
Well, all I can get out of apple is that its not a Safari browser problem.....back to using firefox i go lol. Peter 02:46, 1 October 2008 (EDT)

For me the nav bar (ie, Recent Changes) starts right at the end of the article. For this page, for example, it's wayyyy down there. Tai sig Image 78 14:48, 2 December 2008
(EC)Also the white part is a huge link to the main page. I do not know if that would help though. Fox007 User:Fox007 14:49, 2 December 2008 (EST)
This is exactly the same problem I have with my Safari Browser, it seems to push everything down to the bottom of the articles for some reason, most likely because the advert does not fit in the navigation bar. However, as above, widening this seemed to have no effect. Any coding experts out there? Peter 14:09, 3 December 2008 (EST)
Keep in mind, Chrome is still beta. You'd have to wait until it was production-state for anyone to bother submitting an aesthetic fix. However, it sounds like a browser rendering issue in the way that IE renders things differently than Firefox. It might get fixed by Google, but there's a solid chance you'll have to edit your personal Monobook file. (I'm not entirely sure if this is possible, however. =/) 128.255.195.88 08:10, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Vote Wipe Button

Could BM's/Admins possibly get a vote wipe button, where it asks you for the reason and then all the votes get removed for that reason? Helpful for vote wipes if it was a minor change etc. ~~     Frvwfr2     talk    contribs    admin   18:57, 18 December 2008 (EST)

currently, policy suggest we should vote wipe archives, I believe Dont wants to remove that line(looking at the EB talk page). Also ()no offence meant by this) I fail to see what you seconding achieves when you lack access to said tools (or should said tools be implemented). I wouldn't mind a vote wipe button either in any case (though I can leave deleting and restoring). ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 12:04, 19 December 2008 (EST)

Vote removals

Both me and Rawr have noticed that sometimes a vote that's shown as removed in recent ratings doesn't appear on the removed list at the bottom of the ratings page, making it impossible to check the validity of a removal/restore the vote. Cute McMonkeyTab 14:51, 19 January 2009 (EST)

Does the vote still appear in the valid vote section or has it just been nuked from the face of the earth? I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem. - Misery Is Friendly Misery Dog obaby 16:27, 19 January 2009 (EST)
Might they have deleted the vote b/w the time of your last refresh and the removal? ~~     Frvwfr2   Frv Boston  talk    admin   16:34, 19 January 2009 (EST)
I'm assuming not, because it sounds like they see a removed vote on recent ratings, then go to see why it was removed because they assume everyone else fails. - Misery Is Friendly Misery Dog obaby 16:40, 19 January 2009 (EST)
Shows as still existing on RC, but it's not in either section on the ratings page. You'd have to ask Rawr for an example, it's a week or so since I last noticed it. Cute McMonkeyTab 16:48, 19 January 2009 (EST)
Possible reason, vote removed then immediately deleted by voter. We can test this later if you like. - Miserysig (talk) 03:13, 22 January 2009 (EST)
Nope, it doesnt work. If you vote on something, it appears in recent ratings, but if you delete your vote, the fact that you ever voted on the build is deleted. Another example is if your vote gets rollbacked, it shows up in the "my ratings" page, but if you delete your vote, the fact that it was rollbacked is gone too. Although im not sure what caused tab's problem. :/ Jebuspachi-1-1.jpgMcPachirisu 15:02, 22 January 2009 (EST)

Numbers on PS are black instead of green, is it because its unlinked? Also not all skills have been updated, such as scavenger strike. RickyRicksawsmfacevantof 09:26, 19 January 2009 (EST)

PvP only skills

Skill database is hosted wikiside now, can we expect pvp only versions of skills in the near future? shouldn't be too difficult, just have to add new skill entries--GoldenGoldenstarStar 11:51, 27 January 2009 (EST)

List of not-properly updated skills.

  1. <pvxbig>[[Ether Prism@12], recharge should be at 15 Fox007 User:Fox007 06:01, 31 January 2009 (EST)
  2. [[Xinrae's Weapon]</pvxbig>, is now 5 energy rather then 25 energy. Brandnew. 06:13, 31 January 2009 (EST)
iirc some of the skills weren't up to date when GCard synced, so they should be fine when he next syncs. ~ PheNaxKian Sysop 07:10, 31 January 2009 (EST)

Palm Strike Doesn't Scale

It's been scaling for me...that's odd. Biggles 02:58, 11 February 2009 (EST)
I've noticed various skills since the pvxcode update that aren't scaling for me. firefox 3. something wrong with the code? --Mafaraxas (talk) 03:13, 11 February 2009 (EST)
The DB is wrong, notice that the skills that DO scale have only 2 .'s between the numbers. Well none of use knew that so PS is wrong =/ ~~     Frvwfr2   Frv Boston  talk    admin   06:19, 11 February 2009 (EST)
It's been like this for ages, I fixed it on the wiki Database but now thats gone (bear in mind i fixed it around the 20th of January :/) FrostrageFrosty po! 06:27, 11 February 2009 (EST)

On the left hand side Content->Highlighted Content all the builds have broken links to them. They are basically missin the "Build|" syntax. I would help out but I don't know how to do it.Xtreme Hunter 12:10, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
